8 ideas for a colorful kids' room

No need to repaint everything to give a kids' room some pep. A few well-chosen pieces are enough to create a cheerful mood that can evolve over the years.

Before you start: pick 2 or 3 colors

For a colorful yet harmonious result, start from a main color (often the one in the bedding or curtains) and add one or two accent colors that you repeat around the room. Yellow with sky blue, green with pink, orange with navy blue: there's no shortage of combinations.

1. Colorful knobs on the dresser

This is the simplest trick: swap the knobs on a dresser or wardrobe for colorful ones. With our STIMULO knobs (6 shapes, 19 colors), you can even let your child pick a color for each drawer.

2. Handles that change everything

For big drawers, OLALA handles and their wavy shapes add a playful touch. Our guide to restyling a dresser by changing the handles explains it all.

3. Hooks at kid height

Mounted low enough, wall hooks help kids hang up their coat, bag or pajamas on their own. Donuts, U, I, T, Round or Pebble: line up several shapes and colors for a graphic wall. The mounting kit is included.

4. Bookends for the bookshelf

Colorful bookends keep picture books neatly in place and turn a shelf into a reading nook.

5. A bedside lamp with personality

A colorful lamp warms up the room even when it's off. The LAMPALA Yellow Bird lamp, yellow on a pink base, is one of our favorites for a bedroom.

6. A well-organized desk

For older kids, an OLALA pencil holder and a STIMULO catchall tray bring color to the desk while keeping clutter in check.

8. A headphone stand for teens

The STIMULO headphone stand stores audio or gaming headphones in style, instead of leaving them lying around on the desk.

Even the pros are on board

In New York, an architecture studio chose our STIMULO knobs to furnish a pediatric dentist's office: proof that color reassures and delights little ones, even at the dentist.
